Regional Roundtable on Workforce Development

Hosted by CFWD, this event brought together leaders from healthcare, police services, manufacturing, employment services, and governments to address critical labour shortages in the region. The meeting revealed an urgent need for real-time data on job availability and future labour trends. Key findings included the need for dozens of new police officers within the next two to three years, alongside long-term care workers, construction trades, manufacturing employees, doctors, and other skilled professionals. The meeting also underscored the importance of aligning education and training programs with labour market needs, while addressing immigration and international student engagement through Loyalist College to fill labour gaps.
