As one of the 26 Boards across Ontario that form Workforce Planning Ontario, our core work focuses on local labour market research and workforce development in the Counties of Hastings, Prince Edward and Lennox & Addington.
The Board is responsible for the Local Labour Market Plan (LLMP), a strategic local workforce development report that is evidence based and created with stakeholder and community input. The current three-year strategic LLMP, published in March 2023, will have updates done in 2024 and 2025.
EmployerOne is a survey conducted once a year with local employers across all industry sectors. The results of this demand side survey, released in March each year, identify issues and help drive solutions to issues that local businesses face in the labour force.
The third area the Board is involved with is Service Coordination. The diversity of this area of Board operations allows for support to such things as Skills Ontario Canada competitions and summer camps, research on key issues identified through the LLMP process, hosting of career discovery events for students and job seekers, keeping Economic Development and Chamber of Commerce organizations up to date on local labour market conditions and producing career guides for youth, parents and job seekers.
