Health Care continues to be a priority industry locally, especially in light of the COVID-19 Pandemic. Through 2020-21, the we identified the career opportunities in Long-term Care and Home Care with a key focus on Personal Support Workers. CFWD’s Edge Factor Community LMI Hub also addressed career opportunity as a Registered Massage Therapist.
The guidance on the Health Care HR Strategy is led by a Steering Committee of community members and agencies with oversight from CFWD.
The next priority for the strategy is to communicate the growing need for nursing and other occupations across all levels as a retirement bubble closely approaches. A virtual career fair and local video will address these health care workforce opportunities locally. The Steering Committee will provide input to the occupations that will be addressed.
