In 2022, although we have slowly come out of the pandemic, there is still much to learn about how the labour force and economy have been affected. In the United States, employers started to feel the effects of something called The Great Resignation. But wait! Is it about mass resignations due to job unhappiness or is it an alignment in the labour market that needs to happen. We will be exploring this in greater detail over the next several months.

Through the later part of 2022 and early 2023, a detailed literature review was conducted along with data analysis of dissatisfied job leavers. So, are we really experiencing a great resignation like the United States has? Read on to find out!

The COVID-19 Pandemic has affected local businesses and their employees. The total affect that this has had on the economy and workforce is unknown. As communities begin to recover from this pandemic, it will be important to understand how much a community has been affected and track its recovery. This will be done through establishing baseline data and then comparing to monthly data that is available in order to determine both total affect and how well a community is recovering.
A Guide To Pandemic Preparedness For Businesses
This guide is intended for employers and business leaders who want to modify their business plan to accommodate for the realities of the COVID-19 pandemic. There are two step-by-step guides; in part one, employers are given the steps, strategies and tools involved in creating a business recovery and continuity plan. In part two, the focus is on adapting your workplace, business practices and policies to mitigate infection and transmission risks to ensure your organization is safe and accounts for pandemic-related risks.

2020 Survey on Business Conditions
Statistics Canada has been conducting the “Canadian Survey on Business Conditions” since early in the COVID-19 Pandemic. The first survey was conducted in March 2020 with follow-up surveys done in May and August. These surveys provided insight into how businesses were being affected by the Pandemic. Unfortunately, it spoke to businesses at the national level and did not provide an understanding of what was happening at the local level.
CFWD conducted a survey that ran through August and early September 2020. It covered businesses in Hastings, Prince Edward and Lennox and Addington Counties.
